Vayu dev is one of the Vedic gods that Hindu worships every day. Vayu is the god of wind. He was always represented a fair complexioned man riding a deer and carrying a white flag. He is one of the parts of trinity as sun, fire and air and he is also one of the five elements used for the creation of living beings and the other one is fire, water, earth and ether.
Vayu dev is also called mukhya vayu because when living beings take breathe, they take the air in and making the process of life possible. He is the deity of life. Vayu is in charge of the northwestern part of the universe. The moon or chandraloka is one of the four important places of residence for the demigods. The demigod who controls the wind and on the northern side of the mountain is the moon, which is also known as vibhavari.
Bhima and Hanuman
Vayu dev was married to the daughter of Vishwakarma, having a two sons are Bhima and hanuman. Hanuman is the monkey god and born out the union of vayu and anjani. He is also called vayu – putra. He had the ability to fly because of his father.
Bhima was the son of Kunti. She was given a boon that she could invoke any god and beget a son from him. She invoked vayu and got the all- powerful son, Bhima who fought for the righteousness and truth.
